Target Plus accepts tracking only from USPS, UPS, FedEx and OnTrac, so the shipments Acenda sends for your Target Plus orders need to use one of those carriers. Tracking from any other carrier can be rejected, and Target may not pay you for the order.
Approved carriers and services
You choose the carrier and service, book the shipment and pay the shipping cost. Target supports common ground, two-day and overnight services from these carriers:
Carrier | Examples of accepted services |
USPS | Ground Advantage, Priority Mail |
UPS | Ground, 2nd Day Air, Next Day Air, SurePost*, Mail Innovations* |
FedEx | Ground, Home Delivery, 2Day, Standard Overnight, Next Day Air, SmartPost* |
OnTrac | Ground |
* Economy services are allowed, but Target says they don't meet its expected delivery time. Late deliveries count toward your Order Defect Rate. Check the full current list in your Target+ Partner Portal.
Match the service to the tracking number
The shipping method you send must belong to the same carrier as the tracking number. For example, a USPS service sent with a FedEx tracking number blocks the tracking update, and the order stays unshipped on Target Plus.
What Target Plus doesn't support
Freight and LTL: Target Plus doesn't support freight or less-than-truckload shipments. Sending freight tracking can mean you aren't paid for the order.
Competitor fulfillment services: Walmart's fulfillment services and other competitor fulfillment services aren't allowed for Target Plus orders. The one exception is Amazon Multi-Channel Fulfillment (MCF) with the Blank Box option selected (see below).
Can you use Amazon MCF for Target Plus orders?
Yes, but only with the Blank Box (unbranded packaging) option selected. Amazon Multi-Channel Fulfillment (MCF) is allowed for Target Plus orders only when Blank Box is selected for the order.
Routing from Acenda: Acenda is integrated with Amazon MCF, so you can route Target Plus orders to MCF from Acenda. Contact Acenda Support to set it up.
Packaging: Target's packaging rules still apply. Use plain, unbranded packaging, with no reference to any marketplace other than Target, inside or outside the box.
No inserts: Don't include packing slips or marketing materials.
Return address: The shipping label must show your return address.
Carrier: The shipment still needs an approved carrier and valid tracking (see above). Amazon Logistics isn't an approved Target Plus carrier, so block it for these orders.
Walmart and others: Walmart's fulfillment services and other competitor fulfillment services still aren't allowed.
How Acenda sends the carrier
Acenda sends Target+ shipments as UPS, UPS Mail Innovations, USPS, FedEx or OnTrac. Acenda checks the tracking number's format, and if it can't tell the carrier, it sends the shipment as USPS. Before you connect a fulfillment provider, make sure it ships Target Plus orders with an approved carrier. To check what went to Target, open the order and look at its History tab.
PO Boxes, Alaska, Hawaii and territories
Target expects you to ship to PO Box addresses, so pick a carrier service that delivers there with tracking. You can exclude Alaska, Hawaii, APO/FPO addresses and U.S. territories as one group with the Shipping Exclusion setting. See How to find and update Target+ logistics settings.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
My carrier isn't listed. Can I still use it? Not for Target Plus orders. Target can't accept tracking from other carriers, and the order may not be paid.
Why was my tracking rejected? Check that the carrier is approved, the tracking number matches the carrier's format, and the service belongs to the same carrier. Then follow How to update Target+ order tracking numbers after submission.
Can I use Amazon MCF for Target Plus orders? Yes, only with the Blank Box option selected, and Target's packaging rules still apply. Walmart and other competitor fulfillment services aren't allowed.
Can I ship freight items on Target Plus? No. Target Plus doesn't support freight or LTL shipments.
Can I use a cheaper economy service? Yes, but economy services may not meet Target's delivery expectations, and late deliveries count against your Order Defect Rate.
