Target Plus: How orders, ship-by dates and cancellations work

Learn how Target Plus ship-by dates, tracking and cancellations work for orders you fulfill through Acenda, so you get paid on time.

Target Plus orders that you fulfill through Acenda must ship by the ship-by date Target sets, with valid tracking sent back to Target, or Target can cancel the order and not pay you for it. Acenda brings Target Plus orders in and sends your shipments and cancellations back to Target, but the deadlines and rules are Target's.

What does the ship-by date mean?

Shoppers see an estimated delivery date before they buy. Target works it out from the shipping details on your Target Plus account, including your warehouse's daily order cutoff time.

  • Ordered before your cutoff time: Ship the same day, by 11:59 PM local time.

  • Ordered after your cutoff time: Ship by 11:59 PM local time the next day.

  • Weekends and closed dates: Orders placed then ship by the next business day.

Set your cutoff time to match when your carrier actually picks up. Too early and you miss same-day orders. Too late and orders miss the truck.

Send tracking for every shipment

Target counts an order as shipped only when it receives valid tracking. Add tracking in Acenda as described in How to add tracking information to an order, or let your connected fulfillment provider send it. Target can't add or change tracking by hand.

  • Use an approved carrier: Tracking from a carrier Target doesn't accept can mean you aren't paid. See the carrier article linked below.

  • Several units, several boxes: Send a separate tracking number for each unit that ships in its own box.

  • Several units, one box: Send one tracking number for the whole quantity.

  • Partial shipments: When you ship the rest of a line later, send only the remaining quantity, not the full order quantity.

  • One item in several boxes: Target takes one tracking number per unit. Open a case with Target Plus support and give them the extra tracking numbers so Target can share them with the shopper.

Cancel what you can't ship

If you can't ship an item, cancel it from Acenda rather than leaving the order open. Target can't cancel orders for you in its Partner Portal. See How to cancel an order in Acenda Admin.

  • Line by line: You can ship the lines you have and cancel only the out-of-stock line.

  • No refund needed: Target tells the shopper, and the shopper isn't charged until the order ships.

  • Automatic cancellations: Target cancels orders that are 10 or more days past the ship-by date. You aren't paid for them, and the status can't be changed afterwards, even if you shipped the order.

  • Performance: Cancellations and late shipments count toward your Order Defect Rate. Target suggests cancelling if an item won't be back in stock within 14 days.

What if the address is wrong or the order didn't arrive?

  • Not shipped yet: Check the address with your carrier. If you can confirm a corrected address, open a case with Target Plus support. If you can't, you can cancel the order.

  • Already shipped: Open a case so Target can handle the shopper's refund.

  • Shopper contacts you: Send them to Target.com Guest Services and let Target Plus support know.

  • Don't send a replacement on your own: Wait for Target's direction. A replacement sent without it may not be paid.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

  • Why does Target still show my order as unshipped? Target didn't accept the tracking. Check the order's History tab in Acenda for a failed push, then see How to update Target+ order tracking numbers after submission.

  • Can I get paid for an order Target already cancelled? No. Once Target cancels an order, its status can't be updated and the order isn't paid.

  • Can Target cancel or update an order for me? No. Cancellations and tracking have to come from Acenda. To cancel an order that's already marked Shipped, open a case with Target Plus support.

  • What if I have more orders than I can ship? Open a case with Target Plus support to discuss options, such as Target's order capacity settings for your warehouse.
