Customer Group Store Filters

This feature enables B2C and B2B stores to personalize the browsing experience by Customer Group. For example, you may want to restrict certain customer groups from browsing a restricted category (eg. Used Parts) or brands entirely (eg. Rolex watches). You can also restrict by almost anything imaginable: price point, gross margin, attribute, etc.

From the dashboard, click Customers, then click Groups.

To create a new group, click New Item, or to edit an existing one, click Edit to the right of the group.

Scroll down to Access and Shopping Rules where there is a Catalog Filter Query. You can use this query builder to filter the products available for customer viewing.

Query: Queries can be entered manually here. Queries built in Build section also appear here automatically.

Build: Use this feature to limit the products pulled to products which satisfy rules you specify, shown below:

      • Is equal to / Is not equal to: Limits the products to those in which a field’s value is equal to / not equal to a name, number, or date string, e.g. product.brand is not equal to Rolex.
      • Is in / Is not in: Limits the products to those in which a field’s value is a member of a group of a strings (names, numbers, dates, etc.) e.g. product.category is not in used parts, watches, bedding.
      • Exists: Limits the products to those in which a field’s value exists, i.e. is not empty. Use true and false.
      • Is less than / Is greater than: Limits the products to those in which a field’s value is less than / greater than a number or date, e.g. product.variant.price is less than 100.
      • Is less than or equal to / Is greater than or equal to: Limits the products to those in which a field’s value is less than or equal to / greater than or equal to a number or date.
      • Is in regular expression: Limits the products to those in which a field’s value is in a regular expression you specify.

And/Or: You can add additional constraints using the and and or buttons. The and button will limit the products seen to those in which a field’s value matches both constraints, whereas the or button will limit the products seen to those in which a field’s value matches either constraint.

Once you are done making queries you can view the resulting product list in the Test section. From there you can delete products individually by clicking Delete to the right of them. Once you are satisfied, click Save in the bottom right corner to save your Customer Group.

There are 2 ways to assign your new Customer Group to a Customer. Auto Approve Email Domains, within the Customer Group settings, allows you to automatically approve customers for this customer group with certain email domains, e.g. gmail.com email domains.

Alternately, you can assign Customers individually:

From the dashboard click Customers.

Then click Customers.

Click Edit on the desired customer.

Click Edit under the Information heading.

Under Group select the desired Customer Group.

Click Save.
