How to host size charts and instruction manuals in Acenda

Host size charts, instruction manuals and warranty guides in Acenda Assets and get a permanent link to use in posting templates and custom fields.

Assets is Acenda's file-hosting library for the supporting documents your marketplace listings link to — think size charts, instruction manuals, and warranty guides. Upload a file once, and Acenda gives you a permanent link you can drop into a posting template or a custom field, so the same file can power as many listings as you need.

Assets is for supporting files like these — not your main product photos. For primary and gallery images, use Items and the product image import columns instead; see How to bulk update product images.

Before you start

Decide how the file will be used before you upload: if every item in a posting template shares the same chart or manual, you'll paste one URL as a static value. If the file is different per item, you'll store the URL on a product custom field instead and map it. Both paths are covered below under Use the file's URL in a listing.

Upload a file

  1. Go to CATALOG > Assets.

  2. Click Upload File to choose a file from your computer, or Add from URL to pull one in from a link you already have.

  3. Acenda accepts .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .png, .svg, .webp, and .pdf files up to 50 MB each. Use a clear file name — for example, size-chart-womens-tops.pdf — it's the easiest way to find the file again later.

Copy the file's URL

Every uploaded file gets its own permanent, public link — no login required to open it. That's what lets marketplaces and other sites fetch the file directly.

  1. Find the file in your Assets list.

  2. Click the copy icon in that row's Actions column.

The URL is now on your clipboard, ready to paste wherever you need it.

Use the file's URL in a listing

Where that URL goes next depends on whether the file is the same for every item or different per item.

Same file for every item in the template: open the posting template, set the field's Value Type to String, and paste the URL directly into the value. Every product that uses this template will point to that one file.

A different file per item: store the URL on a product custom field instead, then map the posting-template field to it with Value Type set to Property. You can create that custom field without leaving the template — click Add Field on the field row, which creates the same product custom field you'd otherwise set up under CATALOG > Custom Fields. See How to create custom fields and How to build a posting template for the full walkthrough. Loading many URLs at once through an import? Use a fields.<your_field_name> column.

Selling on Target+? Assets is the recommended way to send a Target+ size chart. Upload the chart as a .jpg or .png file, copy its link, and put that link in the Size Chart attribute on your Target+ posting template, using either path above. Target's Size Chart attribute takes a JPEG or PNG image or a CSV file, so a PDF chart won't work there, and Assets doesn't take CSV files. Target needs the link on both the parent item and every variant. Sending the chart as an extra product image still works as a fallback while Target phases that method out. See How to add and manage size charts on Target+ for the full steps and Target's requirements.

For other marketplaces, check the specific field you're mapping to — some accept a link to a document the same way, others don't.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

  • Why won't my file upload? Acenda only accepts .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .png, .svg, .webp, and .pdf files, and each one must be 50 MB or smaller. Compress a large PDF or image and try again.

  • Why does my listing still show the old version after I replaced a file? Re-uploading doesn't overwrite the original — it creates a brand-new file with a brand-new URL. Copy the new URL and update it wherever the old one was used.

  • What if I deleted an asset and something broke? Deleting a file removes it permanently, and its old URL stops working wherever it's still referenced — including a posting template value or a custom field that still points to it. Confirm nothing live is still using that link before you delete.

  • Why isn't my size chart showing up on Target+? Check that the link points to a .jpg or .png file (not a PDF), that it's in the Size Chart attribute on your Target+ posting template, and that it went out on the parent item and every variant. Target can take up to about 24 hours for live items, or up to 5 days after a new item goes live. See "Selling on Target+?" above.

  • Where do I find a file again later? The Assets list shows every upload's file name, type, size, and upload date, but there's no search or folders yet — descriptive file names are the best way to keep a large library quick to scan.
